THE PROPOSAL–FROM RACHEL + JON
Jon and Rachel met 8 years ago at Long Beach state. They had always been friends but nothing happened for a couple years. They had one drunken night followed by a hungover first date at Acapulco and 6 1/2 years later here they are! The couple lives in Costa Mesa with their dog Rosie. Prior to moving to Costa Mesa they both decided to quit their jobs and go on an epic journey—they spent 5 months traveling around the world together their top favorite countries were Indonesia and Italy and they can’t wait for their next trip back!
On December 2, 2017 Rachel’s parents were hosting their annual Christmas party “Jamfest” where all of the guests play instruments, sing Christmas songs, and drink way too much tequila. This past year was the 10th annual Jamfest and included a Tom Petty tribute. Before the party Jon said that he wanted to stop by Seal Beach where Rachel and he had first lived together to see the Christmas decorations. This was out of character for Jon, but Rachel didn’t think anything of it because her sister had gotten engaged 2 weeks prior.
When they got to the Christmas tree he said “I didn’t just bring you down here to look at Christmas decorations” and as soon as he said that Rachel started sobbing like a baby. He said to her “This is where we started our life together and can’t imagine my life without you, I love you’ and then got down on one knee! Through tears of Joy, Rachel said yes. Jon had a bottle of champagne and blankets waiting in the car for them to watch the sunset before they went to celebrate with 75 of their friends and family at the Jamfest party who all already knew the proposal was happening! It was by far the BEST JAMFEST ever, and it was also the best weekend of their lives.
The couple won our Laguna Beach Engagement shoot giveaway contest this past February–The Grand Prize was a fully styled shoot in Laguna with a ton of AMAZZZZING vendors. Jon and Rachel were styled out by THE SHOP LAGUNA BEACH and NORTH MENSWEAR . They each got to pretend that the store was their own personal closets and select 3 looks! Shannon O’Neill of CARGO-CREATIVE set up a boho picnic for 2 with pillows, throw blankets, wine glasses and flowers. The bountiful food display was generously donated by TABLO LAGUNA and the delicious wine from PURPLE CORDUROY . The DeLauras photographed the couple along the emerald shores of Three Arch Bay– Rachel had her makeup done by the ever so talented LAUREN REID . The whole shoot went off without a hitch! Now the couple are working hand in hand with EMILY BAIRD DESIGN on their custom designed destination wedding invitations! This was an engagement dream come true and we were so thrilled to have been a part of it!!!
Jon + Rachel will be married February 2019 in Sayulita, Mexico and it’s going to be one for the books! Not only will their wedding be stunningly beautiful, but we know without a doubt it will be such an adventure full of laughter, fun and lots of tequila!
